how to join our network

Health Network Solutions, Inc. (HNS) is headquartered just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, and stands alone as the oldest and largest chiropractic network in the Southeast.  Incorporated in 1996, HNS contracts with BlueCross BlueShield of NC, CIGNA HealthCare of North and South Carolina, MedCost as well as many other payors and PPO's.  Joining our network can provide you with access to many of the 7,000,000 covered lives under contract through HNS's managed care partners.

We work to create a partnership environment between our network of providers and the managed care companies and PPO's with whom we contract.  By providing services including network development, network management, credentialing, central claims administration, free electronic claims transmission, quality and utilization management, and free continuing education, we can maximize efficiency and provide real value for our providers as well as our managed care partners.  HNS is fully staffed by dedicated healthcare professionals, including Provider Representatives to assist you and your staff with any of your managed care issues.  HNS does not subcontract any of the administrative services we provide.

If you are interested in joining our network, please contact HNS at (877) 426-2411, extension 2, to request an application packet.

As part of the application process, all providers must be credentialed by HNS per NCQA or URAC guidelines. The credentialing process takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

There is no initial fee to join our network.  HNS charges an administrative fee against the allowable amount shown on each member's EOB.The allowable amount is defined as the amount that the payor intends the provider to colleclt for the service provided, that is represented by a particular CPT code.  The allowable amount includes deductibles and co-payments that should be collected from the member.   By using the allowable amount in computing the HNS administration fee, this assures that HNS will only receive the administrative fee for those services for which the provider is paid.

Group Practices/ Associate Doctors

If you in our network and are considering hiring an additional provider, please be advised that HNS Credentialing Policies, and the policies of HNS contracted payors, require that all providers in a 'group' practice (filing claims under the same tax ID number), must be in the network or none of the providers in the group practice can be in the network. This is largely to avoid confusion for patients who attempt to obtain care from an "in-network" provider.

Independent Contractors

Providers who work as independent contractors in offices of "in-network" providers, and file claims under thier own tax ID (EIN) do not have to be in the network.

Term and Renewal of your HNS Provider Agreement

The term of the HNS Practitioner’s Participation Agreement (PPA) shall be one (1) year commencing on the date of execution of the Agreement and shall automatically renew on an annual basis unless (a) either party gives thirty (30) days written notice prior to the end of the annual term of its intention not to continue the Agreement, or (b) the Agreement is otherwise terminated as provided via the terms outlined in your the Agreement.

Upon termination of this Agreement for any reason, each party further agrees to cooperate with the other party to resolve promptly any outstanding financial, administrative, or member care issues.  Provider acknowledges that termination of participation in HNS may also result in termination of Provider’s managed care Payor contracts which were initiated by HNS (i.e., participation in HNS may be a condition for participation in Payor’s provider contract with Provider).

Notification to HNS contracted payors.   Within 15 days of the effective date of any provider termination from HNS, HNS provides notification to all HNS contracted payors of such terminations, together with the effective date of termination.  HNS does not provide notice of terminations to payor beneficiaries but such notices may be sent directly by HNS contracted payors.
